Director David Lynch––best known for the bizarro worlds he created in such films as Blue Velvet, Mulholland Drive,Eraserhead, and the TV series Twin Peaks––has always used music to the very best effect in all of his work. But now he actually has an album of his own. It’s called Crazy Clown Time (why not, right?) and it’s out November 8th in the US. The title track is now available for your listening pleasure on Lynch’s Facebook. As is to be expected, it’s strange. Lynch talk-sings in a high-pitched groan over a propulsive and slightly dirty- and sinister-sounding bluesy drum line. The song seems to be about a family doing odd, trashy, creepy things. “He had a red shirt/ Suzie had hers off completely/ Daddy poured beer all over her/ Buddy screamed so loud and spit/ Buddy screamed so loud he spit/ We all ran around/ We all ran around/ It was crazy clown time.” It’s weird. And eerie. And cool. Can’t wait to hear the whole album.
Lynch, man, Lynch.
