Blue Ivy Carter is the name of Jay-Z (Shawn Carter) and Beyonce’s new baby girl. Blue Ivy Carter. Get used to hearing and seeing that name because it’s about to be everywhere. Blue Ivy was born in New York’s Lenox Hill Hospital this past Saturday, January 7. Reports indicate she is a completely healthy 7 pound baby girl.
Besides being healthy, B.I.C. is also pretty fucking cool. In fact, she’s cooler than just about all of us already and she’s not even four days old yet: B.I.C. is on a song with her dad, already has a Jay-Z “duet” under her belt. “Glory,” posted and Jay and Bey’s Life + Times website earlier today, is Jay’s ode to his daughter, his early ode to fatherhood, and his sort of sigh of relief that it’s over and it went so smoothly, so amazingly, and so happily. Glory features Blue Ivy’s crying and Jay’s jubilant, emotional rapping. It’s a spare, important song. “A younger, faster, smarter me/ Saw a pinch of Hov, a whole glass of Bey,” Jay raps over a slow, classy Neptunes-produced track. “You don’t yet know what swag is but you were made in Paris/ Momma woke up the next day and shot her album package.” What a life. Blue’ll be running New York in no time flat.
“Life just good REALLY good.”
