Doobiepalooza Student Performers

Ethan Ling

April 14th will be singer-songwriter Ethan Ling’s fourth Doobiepalooza of his career. A Denison student-performer veteran and Cleveland native, Ethan goes by the artist name “Heavy Boots”. He has released three EPs containing a laid-back folk sound. He is a talented and accomplished singer that brings warmth and sincerity to each of his songs. His instrumental creativity has only been increasing the past few years – so expect his performance to kick-off Doobiepalooza on the right note.

Count Spacey

Count Spacey is a garage type band that started last semester founded by Zach Lichtman '20 (drums), Chase Whipple '18 (vocals & guitar) and Marcos Arnett '20 (bass). They have been performing at school events and in Granville consistently. They've gotten an impressive amount of exposure in a short period of time and everyone should be looking forward to their performance at Doobiepalooza on April 14th. What can you expect from them? “We usually perform some covers that are mostly rock, whether it is psychedelic, classic, or a bit jazzy and we add few of our own spins that ultimately gets the crowd going”, Zach and Chase said.

Simone Stevens & Jose Rodriguez

Jose is a rapper/songwriter and Simone Telease is a singer. They will be performing original hip-hop/ RnB songs written by Jose and Simone, as well as a few covers. One of their songs was produced by Simone's brother. Simone is excited to be in the spotlight and for the adrenaline rush that coincides with that. “I started singing around the age of 6 and I began writing music when I was 8-years old. I can’t imagine my life without music. Music will always be one of my priorities.”

While Jose has been recording tracks and writing music for a few years, this is his first time performing in front of people and he's very excited about it. “I just want to mention how excited and grateful I am for the opportunity to perform on this platform. I look forward to using this experience as a chance to grow as an artist.”

OHKO

Li Chien, aka OHKO, is a DJ and rapper. When we asked him about his style, he said, "I love rapping to electronic tracks. Anything that sounds digital is great to me. I'm going to play some songs I made for other people, including Darren Hannible from the DC area, who has been scouted out by Young Money and XXL. I also made a remix to Above and Beyond's 'You Got to Go' and I might play a throwback song I made when I was 16. And of course, I gotta rap about Dim Sum and dumplings and stuff.” Li is a firm believer that the crowd responds best when performers have fun with themselves on stage, so he does his best to get that reaction from crowds. That effect on audiences is his favorite part of performing. His senior project will be in The Nest on April 27th and will be releasing an EP around that time as well.

Möbius

This electronic music wizard is a familiar face on Denison's campus. He has performed countless times with former Denison Students, Joey Aich '16 and Sarob '16 at previous Doobiepalooza festivals and D-Day concerts throughout his four years at Denison. He started getting into DJing during his sophomore year at Denison. “This is my third and last Doobiepalooza performance. This is my favorite event during the year at Denison because it is a chance for a completely student run music festival and we always seem to have the best event of the year.” Want a taste of his music?
