New Art Brut Album On Its Way, Listen To the Single Now
In other British Bands You Probably Haven’t Thought About For a While news, meta-punks Art Brut have a new record coming out. It’s called Brilliant! Tragic! (not really impressed by these album titles, but oh well) and it’s out May 23 onCooking Vinyl.
First single “Lost Weekend” is classic, essential Art Brut––songs about a night out, cellphones, instant but fleeting modern love. Talky-whispery frontman/songwriter Eddie Argos sets the scene: “Stumbling from one club to another/ my friends and I all lost each other.” The song details a “lost weekend” with some girl, where “we turned our phones off, ignored our friends.” There are tons of moments like this throughout the song, Argos intoning in interesting and hushed tones and making the whole thing sound so, so epic: “Danced to a song that I still don’t know/ it was late I was drunk it was the radio,” “I wish you could’ve stayed forever with me/ but the people in the chip shop asked us to leave,” etc.
