The Best Electronic Musicians Reconfigure Daft Punk
Give ‘Tron’ a quick search on Doobie Radio and you’ll quickly see Daft Punk’s soundtrack for the summer blockbuster Tron: Legacy made some big waves. And it wasn’t just big here, the duo’s choice to score a Disney film was big news in a very broad musical community. However, the finished product was not met with unanimously positive reactions. Many forgot it was first and foremost a film score, and were unimpressed by its anti-climactic sound. Daft Punk fans were hoping for a two hour long music video, I guess. Well the music executives over at Disney didn’t want to completely disappoint fans, so they decided to round up fifteen of the biggest names in electronic music and have each one of them remix, or reconfigure, a track. Although Tron: Legacy Reconfigured, featuring The Glitch Mob, Pretty Lights, and Moby, just to name a few, will not be available until April 5th, you can stream part of the album over at WEST LA CNCT. Pretty Lights’ re-work of “Solar Sailer” is the album’s highlight, by far, but that’s probably because it sounds like an original PL song with some Daft Punk thrown in here and there. Download that track here, and if you’re interested pre-order the rest of the album.
